Refine Your Profile Without Surgery
Advances in aesthetic medicine have expanded the options for reducing stubborn, localized fat without invasive procedures. Injectable fat-reduction treatments such as Kybella® and PCDC offer a minimally invasive approach to contouring selected areas of the face and body, particularly beneath the chin.
At LumiLife Aesthetics + Wellness, we offer personalized treatment plans designed to help patients achieve a more sculpted, balanced appearance with little interruption to daily life.
Understanding Kybella® and PCDC
Kybella® and PCDC are injectable treatments used to target unwanted fat deposits in carefully selected areas.
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment containing synthetic deoxycholic acid, a molecule naturally produced by the body to aid in fat breakdown. It is approved for the treatment of moderate to severe submental fullness (“double chin”) and is commonly used to enhance chin and jawline definition.
While Kybella® is specifically FDA-approved for treatment beneath the chin, treatment approaches may vary depending on an individual’s anatomy, goals, and clinical
assessment.
What is PCDC?
PCDC combines phosphatidylcholine (PPC) and deoxycholate (DC).
Phosphatidylcholine is involved in fat metabolism, while deoxycholate—a naturally occurring bile salt—helps break down fat cell membranes. Once treated, the body gradually clears the disrupted fat cells through its natural metabolic processes over time.
Areas Commonly Addressed
Depending on candidacy and individualized evaluation, treatment may be considered for localized pockets of resistant fat in areas such as:
Submental area (under the chin)
Jawline region
Upper arms
Abdomen
Flanks (“love handles”)
Inner or outer thighs
Bra line fullness
Lower buttock contour (“banana roll”)
These treatments are designed for targeted contouring rather than overall weight reduction.
What to Expect During Treatment
Consultation & Personalized Assessment
Every treatment journey begins with a comprehensive consultation. We review your medical history, treatment goals, anatomy, and aesthetic priorities to determine whether injectable fat reduction is an appropriate option.
Treatment Session
Using a fine needle, a series of carefully placed injections are administered into the selected treatment area. Comfort measures such as topical anesthetic, cooling techniques, or local numbing may be used when appropriate.
Treatment sessions typically last 15–30 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Many patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart for optimal contouring outcomes.
Recovery & Aftercare
Most patients experience minimal downtime. Temporary effects may include:
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Redness
- Mild firmness or sensitivity in the treatment are
These effects are generally temporary and improve gradually over the days following
treatment.
Benefits of Injectable Fat Reduction
Patients often choose non-surgical contouring treatments because they offer:
No surgery or incisions: Avoidance of operative procedures, stitches, and general anesthesia.
Minimal downtime: Most individuals return to normal activities shortly after treatment.
Gradual, natural-appearing refinement: Results develop progressively over time, supporting subtle and balanced aesthetic improvement.
Precision contouring: Particularly useful for focused areas such as the chin and jawline where targeted shaping is desired.
Who May Be a Candidate?
Ideal candidates are generally individuals who:
Have mild to moderate localized fat deposits
Maintain a relatively stable weight
Possess good skin quality and elasticity
Have realistic treatment expectations
Seek contour refinement rather than weight loss
Injectable fat-reduction treatments are not intended as weight-management solutions.
